Ingela Thormählen

Ingela Thormählen is in charge of the dressage side at Hof Thormählen. The daughter of the veterinarian Dr. Georg Wisch and his wife Ilse only started to actually ride when she was 16. Until then she had spent her free time vaulting and hacking on a Russian Panje horse.

Together with her sister, Dr. Annelie Baumgart, she was a member of the team of riders at the Hanoverian auctions under the direction of the famous hippologist Hans Joachim Köhler during the 1970s. Since her father did not think much of riding as a profession, she studied pharmacy in Hamburg and then worked at a drug store. But she never gave up riding and especially liked to school young horses, some of which she brought up to the Bundeschampionat.

Ingela Thormählen has always supported her husband at Hof Thormählen, not only with breeding but also by breaking in and riding young horses. Meanwhile, she mostly takes care of the administrative side of the operation  – especially now that gave up her work as a pharmacist in May 2011.
