Come On

Gray Holstein stallion, born 1985, line 8769
Breeder: Gerd Magens, Ottenbüttel

Come On's career as a stallion was close to being over before it ever began. The awesome gray stallion was not admitted to the licensing because his walk and trot were not convincing enough. In those days, stallions were not allowed to show anything else. But Harm Thormählen was so convinced by the canter of the stallion and even more by his jumping technique that he purchased Come On – and sent him to the stallion performance test in Medingen in 1988 which he finished as the Reserve Champion. Come On was then licensed, won a whole series of tests for young show jumpers and was the best stallion at the Bundeschampionat in Munich in 1991.

Brought out in sport by Harm Thormählen, Come On continued his career with Carsten-Otto Nagel in the saddle in 1991. Under Ludger Beerbaum and Ralf Schneider numerous international ribbons were added such as first place in the German Masters, second place in the Grand Prix of Gothenburg/SWE, third place in the Derby of Hickstead/GBR and fourth place in the Hamburg Show Jumping Derby. Starting in 1997, Come On then placed with her Royal Highness, Princess Haya of Jordan, for example in the CHIO Aachen.

Come On is by Cantus, who sired a number of significant sons such as Canturo, Calido I and II, Cyrano, Cassius Clay and Cascavelle. His dam Sühne produced further top horses: Fleur (by Ramino)/Michael Whitaker/GBR and Nobless M (by Calido I)/Pius Schwizer/SUI, who is the dam of the licensed Cordius M (by Contender). The granddam Bühne collected 70 first place ribbons in medium (M) and advanced (S) level show jumping tests under her breeder Gerd Magens and also gave birth to the licensed stallions Castor (by Cor de la Bryère)/Dr. Michael Rüping and Ferdinand (by Fernando).

When his career in sport was over, Come On was stationed for four years at Paul Schockemöhle's breeding station before he was leased to Italy for four years. Eight licensed sons are on record, including Clever Boy, Come Well and Checker as well as the winner of the Nürnberg Burg Pokal, Comic FRH. Come On also produced successful mares for Hof Thormählen such as Larsa, the dam of the licensed full brothers, Cero I and II (both by Calido I), Up to date as well as Capriccio, an awesome jumper.
